St. John's Episcopal Church Donates Food & Gift Cards to ECS Head Start Families

St. John’s Episcopal Church, Reverend Roger, and the congregation graciously collected and donated food items and gift cards for ECS Head Start families in need. Several bags of food and many gift cards were distributed to grateful families as they prepared for the Thanksgiving holiday. 

Head Start students put together a ‘thank you’ poster to demonstrate their appreciation for St. John’s generosity. Thank you, St. John’s, for your kindness and support.

CERRC Thanksgiving Lunch

CERRC and Uptown Safe Haven clients, ECS staff and board members, Bishop’s School students, and volunteers all enjoyed a savory Thanksgiving meal at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church yesterday afternoon. The event was touching and celebratory as CERRC clients received tokens of love and support for their recovery time.

Over 50 CERRC and Uptown Safe Haven clients were in attendance.

A special thanks to all participating organizations and individuals that helped make this event possible: St. Mark’s, St. James’, St. David’s, St. Paul’s, The Bishop’s School, ECS Moonlight Ball committee members, ECS staff, and all other volunteers. We appreciate your support.

ACCORD Program Manager Nominated for the CADTP Board of Directors

On Nov. 2 and 3, Stacie Perez, VP of Programs, Mustafa Nasheed, ACCORD Program Manager, Carolina Gallardo, ACCORD Administrative Supervisor, and Monya Davis, ACCORD Lead Counselor, attended the California Association of Driving Under the Influence Treatment Programs (CADTP) Fall Conference in Sacramento, California.

This annual conference gives counselors new tools and innovative ways to engage those suffering from addiction and provides integration materials to help increase motivation for change.

Nasheed was nominated and unanimously confirmed as a new CADTP Board of Directors member. His assigned term is November 2023 to November 2025. Perez, a member of the CADTP Board since 2014, also serves as Chair of the CADTP Certification Board.

Through advocacy, education, and cooperation with legislators, state and local officials, and other community stakeholders, the CADTP association was established as a partner to its member organizations to promote understanding and defend the integrity of the California DUI Programs.

50th National Philanthropy Day

The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) San Diego celebrated its 50th National Philanthropy Day (NPD) on Friday, Nov. 4, to recognize the valuable contributions of local volunteers and development professionals who invested time, talent, and resources in our community.

ECS attended the luncheon with current and former board members – other San Diego nonprofit leaders, philanthropists, development professionals – and business, community, and civic leaders. Event attendees were inspired as they watched award presentations and videos throughout the evening.

NPD San Diego is one of the nation’s largest AFP events, attracting up to 850 participants annually. Sponsorship funds not only support NPD, but are reinvested in education, training, career development, and the advancement of fundraising professionals throughout San Diego.
