ECS Honors Dr. Martin Luther King
As we welcome the new year, the DEI committee has diligently prepared monthly cultural and heritage awareness messages for you. You may access the monthly calendar here. If you’d like to participate in planning for any of the dates listed, please email us at deicommittee@ecscalifornia.org.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a renowned social activist and a key figure in the American Civil Rights movement. He believed in and championed non-violent forms of protest to achieve equality and human rights for African Americans in the United States.
In recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 16, we commemorate his life and legacy by inviting you to learn more about his significant contributions as a civil rights leader. We also encourage you to reflect on how you can continue his efforts to achieve true equality in our nation.
At Episcopal Community Services (ECS), we align ourselves with the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by living out our core value of belonging. This means embodying diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in everything we do. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Our programs are centered around the pursuit of justice, and it’s an honor to be a part of an organization like ECS that continues to advocate for and work toward building an equitable community where all have unlimited potential.
Wishing you and your family a restful and peaceful MLK Day. Stay tuned for Black History Month updates.
