For years, Tina took post at a busy intersection in Downtown San Diego, her worldly belongings in a nearby pile. Pacing the sidewalk, she screamed at the hallucinations of her inner demons, frightening those within close range of her. Some would even cross the street to avoid being near her.
One day, Tina approached a Friend to Friend outreach worker and asked for help. After undergoing an assessment and intensive treatment plan, Tina has been able to manage her schizophrenia and moved into Downtown Safe Haven, where she receives supportive services and looks forward to finding permanent housing in about a year.
