St. Timothy's S-O-U-P-E-R Bowl

February 1, 2009
Using the well-known Super Bowl Sunday as a play on words, parishioners of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Rancho Peñasquitos were asked to donate a can of soup to help fill the shelves of ECS’ Emergency Assistance. In addition to boxes of canned soup, chili and pasta, families brought tuna, vegetables, boxed meals and jars of pasta sauce. Some families even brought in helpful household items such as laundry detergent, paper towels, diapers and soap.

“Everyone feels compelled to help the hungry. It’s a need everyone understands,” said Sue Embick, who serves at St. Timothy’s Partners in Ministry liaison to ECS. “Even just a can or two a week from every family will make a difference.”

It was a SUPER Sunday, indeed! To organize a similar outreach effort at your church, please contact Alyssa at (619) 228-2828 or email aosian@ecscalifornia.org.
